Lining	Full Leather	Lining The Lining is the material used on the inside of the shoes which rests against the foot during wear. Full Leather lining This is regarded as the best finish to have, the complete interior of the shoe is lined with leather which gives comfort & absorbs the moisture given off from the foot during wear. 1/2 Leather lining The fore part of the shoe has a cotton or linen lining & from the waist of the shoe back to the heel is leather.
Sole	Goodyear Welted Leather sole	Soles and Heels The Lining is the material used on the inside of the shoes which rests against the foot during wear. Full Leather lining This is regarded as the best finish to have, the complete interior of the shoe is lined with leather which gives comfort & absorbs the moisture given off from the foot during wear. 1/2 Leather lining The fore part of the shoe has a cotton or linen lining & from the waist of the shoe back to the heel is leather.
Heel	Leather 1/4 Rubber Tip	Soles and Heels Goodyear welted leather sole This is what Northampton manufactures are traditionally known for. The sole is stitched to a welt which means the shoe gives great comfort & excellent shape retention. Welted Rubber soles This is similar to the “Goodyear welted Leather sole” construction except the sole material is Rubber giving harder wear & better water resistant properties. Leather Sole Rubber Fore Part This gives all the benefits of a leather sole but the added flexibility & durability of a rubber fore part. Cemented Leather Sole A construction using specialised adhesives in place of stitched welts to bond the upper to the sole. This gives lightness in weight & appearance that the welted construction cannot. Moccasin Construction This provides a very light flexible & comfortable shoe. A bag of Leather is formed by Hand stitching an apron & the sole is then stitched or glued to the upper.
Last	386 Last / classic	Last The LAST is the foot shape that the shoe uppers are pulled over & secured on during manufacturing to obtain the shape. The lasts are given numbers or names to denote their individual characteristics such as toe shape & depth etc. Traditional Lasts are made from wood but now more commonly plastic ones are used these days.

Herring Henley 2 is a handmade canvas and calf spectator shoe that is from the great shoe making centre of Northamptonshire. It is probably the most iconic British summer shoe you could wish for, whether you are racing at Ascot, on the river at Henley or eating strawberries at Wimbledon. As this is hand-burnished there can be a variation in colour of each pair compared to the image shown above but it will still be a representative image. This product has a 3D model: this means that you can see it from 360° by moving it with your mouse or screen, use AR view to see it in 'real life' (such as next to your favourite suit or jeans), or even use Try on to point your phone at your feet and virtually try a pair on. This is a new feature we are currently trialling: we hope you find it useful, and your feedback would be appreciated. Please send any comments to info@herringshoes.co.uk. The 386 is a classic and elegant shaped last, while also providing good fitting qualities and comfort. This is a standard fitting shoe so you can confidently order your normal UK size.

Standard delivery to the United States is £27.50. Lower rates may apply for orders of small items - check your basket for details.

Shoes that are made to fit the same size foot will vary in physical size due to differences in last (shoe) shapes. For this reason we cannot measure shoes to fit your feet.

Please note that F is the normal width fitting. if you do not usually buy wider fitting shoes and you don’t struggle buying off the shelf shoes that fit you, please order F fitting. If you do have wider feet and find you often need to size up to get the width right, then G would be more suitable as they are 3-5mm wider without the added length.
