Making a comeback this season is the Penny loafer. Following the eagerly anticipated film, The Wolf on Wall Street, Leonardo DiCaprio plays Jordan Belfort who sports this classic style throughout the film. The Penny loafer originated in the 1930’s and gets its name from the times when school children would keep an emergency penny in their shoes for use in payphones. It’s population grew when celebrities such as, James Dean, JFK and Michael Jackson were seen wearing the style. Chose from the Exeter, Broadway or Russel from Herring Shoes…
Premium footwear brand Herring Shoes has taken influences from the trends of the 1920’s. The original name of the two-tone shoe is the ‘spectator’ as the spectators were the original gentleman’s sports shoe in the early nineteenth century. Combining the finest quality in calf leathers, suede and caviar grain leather. The collection is refined and elegant, but built to last handmade in Britain with Goodyear sole and welted leather ¼ rubber tip. Herring Shoes has also introduced their Gatsby shoe – Gatsby harks back to a time of gentlemen at garden parties and free flowing champagne. Treat yourself to some of that atmosphere with this stunning two tone correspondent brogue. In a mottled effect dark brown “shadow” and creamy antique beige these really do stand out. A classic reinvented for today.
British brand Herring Shoes has introduced a new style into its premium belt collection. The Herring Hagger is made from exceptional quality leather and is solely made in England. Available in black, tan, navy and brown.“These belts are masterpieces of traditional hand craftsmanship and we are proud to be supporting British skills in the South West of England.†Adrian Herring.

This weekend saw the X Factor finalists and Xtra Factor presenter Olly Murs wearing Herring Shoes. Both runners up, Jahmene Douglas and Christopher Maloney have been fans of the brand from the very beginning of the live shows, wearing Herring in almost every performance. Olly Murs wore the Attlee and Chaucer II on both Saturday and Sunday evening’s shows.
The Herring Attlee is a stylish double monk-strap shoe on the elongated 11028 last for a bespoke feel. Handmade in Northampton, England, they embody all the artistry of English shoemaking. Few shoes are as on trend at the moment as double monks. Versatile enough to be worn with both suits and jeans, few shoes have quite the same sense of presence and playfulness as double monks. The Herring Chaucer II is a genuine wholecut shoe. The pinnacle of shoe making, this whole cut features fine calf leather, full leather lining and a Goodyear Welted sole. Perhaps the most difficult shoe to make as each one needs to be made from one perfect piece of unblemished leather. A scratch or miss cut during the making and the shoe and it has to be discarded.
