Black formal shoes are not the first wardrobe item you would expect to think about in the summer months but there are plenty of reason why you should consider them…especially when the sales are on.
While the summer holidays may get you reaching for your deck shoes, loafers, moccasins, espadrilles, etc., there are plenty of occasions and situations where the formal black shoe is still king whether you choose an Oxford, Derby or loafer style.
Let’s rip the plaster off and tell it how it is. Some of us still work in the summer months, unlike people who live in those sensible countries that expect you take the whole of August off. Sigh…if only. If you are expected to wear a suit and tie, then a black shoe is the perfect accompaniment with a dark suit.
Moving quickly on. If you have children, they have probably only just finished school for the summer. It may feel like you have many long weeks until they are back at school, but they will soon whip by with the task of buying new school shoes looming large.
My advice: get them now. Get the pain over and done with, and order online to make the whole process more palatable. If your son’s feet have stopped growing, this could be the ideal opportunity to invest in some black Oxfords or other formal shoes that will take them through to university occasions and even their first days of work.
Then there are all the lovely events and celebrations you may get invited to this summer. Graduation ceremonies, weddings, race meets and black-tie parties. You may also be entering the job market and have interviews to attend or, sadly, need to go to a funeral.
Black formal shoes are endlessly versatile. They smarten up an outfit and never let you down. With the summer sales in full flow, now is a good time to grab a bargain or invest in a full price pair that are just little bit special…handmade, UK manufactured, fine leathers, classic design, etc. I promise you; you will not regret it.
